Joint Venture, Affiliate,
Think We Can Make Beautiful Video Together?
Please Read This First
I’m a big believer in collaboration and supporting one another’s success. Joint ventures, cross promotions, and affiliate arrangements are examples of how we can do this. I’m VERY interested in working with you if we’re a great match. Just ask folks I’ve worked with like Michael Port, Denise Wakeman of the Blog Squad, Erin Blaskie, Nancy Marmolejo, Viki Winteron and Rob Schultz!
Because of the large number of requests I receive to do joint ventures, I set up this page so you understand my criteria and to see if we could work together – schedules permitting.
Please understand that if I say no, it doesn’t mean you don’t have a terrific offer… it just might not be the best for where I am in my business or the needs of my audience. If I know of someone who could benefit from what you’re offering, I’d be happy to pass along the recommendation.
Joint Venture Information
I’ve had to become pretty selective when it comes to Joint Ventures. Please read my criteria. If it sounds like a match, complete my JV Pitch Me form with a description of your project and how it addresses the following points:
1. IT’S A WIN-WIN-WIN
Joint ventures must be win-win-win situations. That’s a win for you, a win for me, and a win for our shared audience.
2. YOU’VE DONE YOUR HOMEWORK
Learn about me and my business before you approach me. Read my blog, check out my services, and look over my products. Make sure that I’m not already offering something similar.
3. YOU UNDERSTAND MY AUDIENCE
My audience is made up of small business owners, service professionals and entrepreneurs who want more visibility, credibility and profitability. Many of them are internet marketers, coaches, consultants, authors and speakers. They’re savvy, upbeat, and looking for great results. They demand high quality, great value, a sincere message, and effective strategies they can put to use to grow their businesses.
4. LIST SIZE/AUDIENCE
You have a responsive list of at least 5,000. For teleseminars, you can gather a large audience (at least 100). For pre-recorded interviews, it must reach 750 – 1,000 people. In order to involve social media in this, you must be a proficient user.
5. VALUE TO MY AUDIENCE
Your offer is business related and provides high value to my audience. “Everyone could use this” isn’t a strong enough offer. Explain to me how this will benefit my audience of entrepreneurs and service professionals looking to build their brand and grow their business.
6. SOCIAL MEDIA FINESSE
You use social media and online marketing tools responsibly (not overly promotional, no spamming). You have a well matched following.
7. EXCELLENT SALES COPY AND WEB PRESENCE
You have well written sales copy, a professional looking website, and an overall credible presentation. Understand that my reputation is at stake if I recommend my audience to something that is not presented credibly or professionally. The sales copy and website are key in this. Nothing schlocky, nothing spammy!
8. OUR VALUES MATCH
Like me, you’re service-oriented and dedicated to getting results for your clients. You’re heart-based and authentic, but not too “woo-woo!” Remember the line from Jerry Maguire… this is Show BUSINESS, not Show Friends!
9. OUT OF THE BOX IDEAS
If you’re interested in getting creative with me, that’s great. But please take into account the criteria above if you want to brainstorm a joint venture. Remember, it’s only creative if it SELLS. Ka-Ching!
10. I AM NOT YOUR VIDEO FACTORY
Finally, though my specialty is video marketing, working together does not necessarily mean that I suddenly become your video producer and make all kinds of videos for our JV. Marketing and promotion can be discussed once we create a mutually-beneficial plan.
IMPORTANT NOTE IF YOU WANT ME TO BE PART OF YOUR EVENT OR LAUNCH
I can’t guarantee that I can send out emails to my list to promote your project. My Online Business Manager will assess if it has the Win-Win-Win potential.
AFFILIATE MARKETING INFORMATION
I have a number of products, programs, and services that you can promote for a commission by being a member of my affiliate program.
All you need to do is sign up, log into the affiliate center, and learn about the various things you can promote. You will get a unique link that holds your affiliate code so anyone who purchases from that will be credited to you.
We pay out 60 days after a transaction is recorded and paid by PayPal.
We do at least one major promotion per quarter and provide marketing materials to help you earn referral bonuses.

Social Networking, Blog/Vlog Posts, and Endorsement Information
A lot of people send me things things to retweet, blog about, or endorse.
Here are my guidelines on that:
1. I don’t Tweet, blog, or write about a product or book I haven’t reviewed.
2. If you want an endorsement, please contact email@example.com with a description of your offer to see if it matches our interest level and schedule. No need to send books or digital products before contacting my assist team. Endorsements are not guaranteed!
3. I am not a retweet bot. I won’t use social media to promote anything for anyone if I don’t know that person, their work, or their offer.
4. If you want to contribute to the Lou Bortone Blog, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for our guest contributor criteria.
5. Folks send me their videos to “review” often. I don’t provide free video critiques or advice unless you’re a client. You can purchase consulting or strategy sessions.
Ready to Pitch Me a JV?
Thanks for taking the effort to make sure it’s a win-win-win all the way around!
P.S. I’ve made commitments to my clients that come first and I spend most of my time creating their videos and helping them grow their businesses. My Online Business Manager has final say on what gets through to me. Please don’t try to get to me through email, social media or phone because I’ll just send you back to her anyway. Thanks for your understanding.
